This passage in Ecclesiastes reminds us of the brevity of life and the zeal of youth. It reminds us to remember to enjoy life while we are young. It reminds us that while we are young we have vision and we’re set a blaze and we can clearly see the world for what it is; this wonderful opportunity to live purposefully. As you read through this scripture remember that all these things that we can experience now are right now blessings and if we don’t take advantage of them we will lose them.
As a young mother in everything we do we should be looking to honor God and enjoy all the blessings that he has bestowed upon us. God has given you your children and your husband because he knows that you have the energy and tenacity to perform your duties in excellence. (Yes even at 2 AM with a crying baby in hand and again at five or 6 AM while you’re brewing your coffee!) This scripture states our vigor as waning as we get older which means that we are full of it now but it won’t last forever. Our day-to-day duties can have us feeling inferior, as if we don’t have the qualities necessary to do them well. You may be comparing yourself to other mothers or comparing your children to other mothers children, or might even be doing the danger of comparing your husband to another woman’s husband. But remember this; you have already been equipped with everything you need. Learn to enjoy the life you’ve been given and use it honor God!
