As a mother it hurts to know we can’t save our children from everything. We want so desperately to keep them from being hurt, from failing, and from any downfall. After all we spend so much time trying to build them up of course we want to be there to deflect any arrow headed in their direction.
I know I feel like this everyday they go to school. I don’t know what words are going to be said to my children, what bully might taunt my babies, what foolishness may occur that they might get in the middle of. The reality is there are times the pain they suffer has to be their own. You have to trust yourself and you have to trust God.
Even though they may have to embrace the suffering, they don’t have to go it alone. We can still be there to encourage and walk long side them, even while trusting we’ve done our job and while trusting God to stand in the gap when we can’t.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NIV)
The scripture says He will comfort us in all our troubles. The same God who is there for you is there for your children. So while we are troubled and worried for our babies, He has given us comfort so that we can give comfort others as well. (That’s just like God; always giving us an abundance of things!)
Don’t forget what you’ve been given. I know it’s hard to because we are human and can get caught up in our feelings but we have what we need mamas! We just have to remember it when it’s needed.
