Here we are with Day 2 of the 30 Day Cultivating A Heart for Home! If you missed Day 1 you can go back and read it here: Day One.
To Cultivate A Heart for Home today’s focus is on the atmosphere that’s Christ centered.
But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. Psalm 1:2
In order to create a Christ centered home we would need to keep God’s Word on our hearts and minds. So I’m finding new places to post the Word in my home.
Take a minute and read 2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1
It says right here in the word that God lives with us and He does! If God is in our homes should’t it be reflected in our homes? The same way you have evidence that you live there; your photos, your clothes, your magazines and books, your toiletries. Where is the evidence that God lives in your home?
It should be visible to the people who are visiting your home that God is the center of your home. You never know who may be visiting and that’s the only word they get all week. It’s also important because the kids who can read will come by certain areas of the house and read them quietly to themselves and mediate on the word as well. This is especially good for wives to unsaved husbands for them to see and read the word. But most importantly it’s great for you because you will be reminded of God’s promises especially in those moments you want to just run away from home because you feel overwhelmed.
Having scripture posted in your home is just one way to physically display what your family values in your gospel centered home. It even says in Deuteronomy 6:9 “Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” It’s a command for us to follow.
Meditate on this one. Let me know which scripture your posting in your home and where.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10)
